Milliken Heights will bring 55 year-round units to the Town Center of Old Orchard Beach. Residency will be age-restricted to those 55 or greater and aimed at a diversity of income levels. Amenities within easy walking distance include a grocery store, post office, pharmacy, bank, hardware store, library, and Maine’s longest beach.
The building will be The Szanton Company’s first built to Passive House energy efficiency standards, creating an exceptionally comfortable and quiet living environment with even temperatures and excellent indoor air quality. The property will also feature wi-fi, off-street parking, a community room, and indoor bicycle storage. Many residents will enjoy ocean views.
The project’s namesake is the Milliken family, which shaped much of Old Orchard Beach’s early economic history. John Milliken settled the area in 1710, and his descendants operated ice and lumber trading businesses on site of Milliken Heights.
Construction will begin in fall 2021 with occupancy expected in fall 2022.
